What a finish for Johnstone's Young Painter of the Year 2018
01/06/2018
Last Friday saw our regional competition in the Midlands come to an
end. Hosted at South Leicestershire College, the event was the last of seven competitions that saw
eight local students battle it out to be crowned regional winner.
The winners and runners-up from each region received cash prizes, as well as a fantastic prize
bundle of quality decorating tools from a range of leading suppliers, including Toupret, Purdy, 3M,
Mirka, Packexe and more. And what a forgettable few months. The talent pool this year has been very
high and the judges from Johnstone's technical team were extremely impressed by the entrants
skill levels.
The event, which is in its 14th year, celebrates young painting and decorating talent across the UK.
This year seven students from seven regions have been crowned Regional Winners of Johnstone's
Young Painter of the Year competition with each winner being invited to join Johnstone's in
local charity painting and decorating projects.
James Surtees from Johnstone’s Technical Department said: “The competitions are about
supporting the youth of the industry and protecting the future of painting and decorating. As a
manufacturer, it’s great to have the support of colleges; we wouldn’t be able to run the
competitions without them. Special thanks go to the suppliers who have kindly sponsored the regional
events and provided an abudance of prizes.
